HISTORY OF THE YORKIE

​The ancestors of the Yorkshire Terrier are the Waterside Terrier, a small Scottish breed with a long blue-gray coat. The Waterside Terrier was brought to Yorkshire, England in the mid 19th century. The Yorkie made its first appearance in England in 1861 during a bench show.
The yorkshire terrier originated from a mix of up to 6 different breeds, Waterside terrier, Maltese, Skye Terrier, Manchester Terrier , (the now extinct) Leeds Terrier and Dandie Dinmont Terrier.
The Yorkshire Terrier breed was oficially established in 1874 in England.
The Biewer Terrier is a Yorkshire Terrier that originated in 1984 from two yorkshire terriers and were classifed as a Yorkshire Terrier until CKC re-classified it as its own breed.


​Yorkshire Terriers, commonly called Yorkies, are little dogs with tenacious personalities. They're one of the most popular dog breeds worldwide. Though technically categorized in the toy group, they take on many terrier traits as well.
Yorkies tend to be very vocal, protective, and loyal. Despite their small size, they make excellent guard dogs. At heart, Yorkies are wonderful companions that love to be pampered and snuggle up to their loved ones.
Please note that we are Hobby breeders with CKC registered parents. We adopt to families as Pet Only. We do not sell for breeding purposes or offer Stud services.
